Collier Schorr by Derek

"Collier Schorr was born in New York City in 1963 and attended the School of the Visual Arts, New York. Best known for her portraits of adolescent men and women, Schorr’s pictures often blend photographic realism with elements of fiction and youthful fantasy. For her 1998 project, "Neue Soldaten," Schorr juxtaposed documentary-style pictures of a Swedish army battalion with pictures of fake Swedish soldiers played by German teenagers...."

I came across her while watching a PBS show called Art 21. I really like all of her stuff but especially her wrestler photos, the way she plays with gender and sexuality. Watch the segment on her here. Also, check out that PBS show. It has about 20 hour-long episodes on Netflix. It gives attention to quite a few mediums, with a photographer featured every other episode or so.
