The Figure Now Contest (Lauren V)

National Deadline: December 1, 2012 - Fontbonne University Fine Arts Gallery announces a national juried exhibition which reconsiders traditional and contemporary approaches to the figure. All media accepted - Painting, drawing, photography, sculpture, mixed media, etc. Open to U.S. artists. All work must be original.

AWARDS

• First Place: $1,000.00 - Plus winner will be featured in a one-page editorial in American Art Collector Magazine, February 2013 Issue.
• Second Place: $500
• Third Place: $250

JURORS

• Steve Huston
  Steve Huston was born and raised in Alaska. He studied at Pasadena's Art Center College of Design. Even before graduating with his BFA, Huston began illustrating, for such clients as Caesar's Palace, MGM, Paramount Pictures and Universal Studios among others.
  
  1995 began his career as a fine artist. A string of gallery shows has followed, first in Los Angeles and then in New York and elsewhere. Huston continues exhibiting his work widely.
  
• Nathan Lewis
  Nathan Lewis is a California born painter and installation artist. He received his MFA from Tufts University and the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston. He also studied at the Florence Academy of Art in Italy and in St. Petersburg, Russia. His work has been exhibited both nationally and internationally in museums, galleries, and universities.
  
  His work is in private collections in New York, CT, MA, CA, Russia, and India. Lewis' paintings have been on the cover of numerous books and journals and his work was included in films shown at the Cannes and Sundance Film festivals. His work has been published and reviewed by the Boston Globe, the New York Press, International Artist, The New Haven Register, The New Haven Advocate, Big Red and Shiny, and the New York Times. He is currently a tenure track Assistant Professor of Art at Sacred Heart University in Fairfield, CT.

$35 entry.

Applications and Images are accepted online only.

• All accepted work must be original.
• All entries must be figurative.
• No dimensions of work can exceed 72" in either H or W

• Opening reception - Friday, Feb 1: 6-8 pm Fontbonne Fine Arts Gallery Work returned by March 30th.
