Jessica's project motivated me to look into tutorials that illustrate how to blend two separate faces together. This site gave what they considered a very basic method of layering and processing to achieve this using images of George Clooney and Brad Pitt.
They cite that the most important factor in the process is actually not in the processing but in choosing the initial images that you will be working with. It is crucial that both faces have a similar orientation. Note how in the images they selected both faces are turned slightly to the right and the lighting conditions appear to be very similar in both pictures.
